Mahoney Goes Full Maverick

Week 5 — Fancy Football X

A one-of-one quarterback delivers the crown

Congratulations to Cameron Mahoney, who shattered the 200-point barrier and claimed the crown with 201.46 points. His winning lineup was powered by Drake Maye, whose slate-leading 42.46 points belonged to Cameron alone. Jaylen Warren added 39.80, while Puka Nacua supplied another 40.70.

Cameron also found 21.60 points from lightly drafted Braelon Allen and received solid production from Hunter Henry and the Broncos D/ST. That was enough to overcome a quiet 8.60 from Chris Olave and beat Erik Nelson by 19.90 points.

Even more impressively, Cameron was the 5th person in Fancy Football history to earn The Maverick, winning the week with the lowest chalk rating. His 7.1 rating produced not only the crown, but also a new league-high score for the season, surpassing the previous mark of 198.20.

The hits were enormous at the top

Erik finished second with 181.56 behind 40.70 from Puka Nacua and a tremendous 32.40-point value from Isaiah Likely. That combination helped neutralize the week’s most popular disappointment, Michael Wilson, who scored only 7.28 despite appearing in 35.9% of lineups.

Colin Santee took third at 172.72 after pairing Jaylen Warren with Jahmyr Gibbs, who matched Puka Nacua at 40.70 points. Colin edged Lars Rikardsen by just 0.96, while only 3.70 points separated third-place Colin from sixth-place Sean O’Neil.

Several other less-common selections delivered major returns. Christian Watson scored 35.30 for only two contestants, Parker Washington posted 33.40 for three, and Alycia Holmes received 29.74 from single-drafted Jameis Winston. None, however, could match Cameron’s exclusive access to the week’s highest scorer.

Popular success—and expensive trouble

The 28.2%-drafted Puka Nacua was the week’s defining popular pick, scoring 40.70 and appearing in four of the top nine lineups. Bucky Irving also paid off for six contestants with 34.50 points, helping Michael Bordes finish fifth, Connor Buxton place ninth and Casey Oliver land 15th.

Other popular plays were far less helpful. CeeDee Lamb managed 2.90 points at an $8,300 salary, contributing to four bottom-half finishes. Roman Wilson scored zero in six lineups, although Sean survived the blank to finish sixth. Ladd McConkey also scored zero, while the Raiders D/ST finished at minus-1.00 for three contestants.

At the pay line, Evan Devoe secured the final top-half finish with 144.28 points. Jonathan Starosta was next at 141.38, missing a win by 2.90 despite 33.40 from Parker Washington.

Five straight for the standings leader

Ben Maier’s eighth-place finish extended his winning streak to five weeks and kept him atop the season standings with five top-half finishes. Cameron’s crown moved his winnings from $20 to $90 and gave him his second win of the year.

Connor’s ninth-place result was also his first top-half finish, breaking into positive earnings with $8 after a lineup led by Bucky Irving and Puka Nacua.
