A Crown Built on Contrarian Firepower

Mike Mckenna opened the season with a commanding 198.2 points, beating Kyle Gagnon by 6.3 to claim the first crown. Mike paired the week’s highest scorer, Derrick Henry (38.3), with Jahmyr Gibbs (37.6) and a huge low-owned performance from Christian Watson (35.7). With Henry rostered only by Mike and Watson appearing in just three lineups, the winning formula was anything but chalky.

Kyle finished second at 191.9 behind Gibbs, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Isaiah Likely, while Michael Bordes landed just 0.2 points behind him. Michael also hit on Watson and Likely, making the fight for second nearly as tight as the race for the crown.

One-Man Sleepers and Week-Wrecking Zeros

Ben Maier found the week’s premier sleeper in Jalen Coker, whose 36.8 points came at only $4,600 and in just one lineup. That helped Ben finish sixth despite getting only 0.6 from Kyler Murray. Dale Strong also rode a one-of-one bargain, receiving 35.4 points from Bryce Young on the way to seventh.

At the other end, Colston Loveland delivered zero points despite being drafted eight times, with all eight of those contestants finishing outside the winning half. Expensive disappointments Ja’Marr Chase (3.2) and Jaylen Waddle (1.2) also left their drafters scrambling.

The First Cut

Jim Chrystal grabbed the 19th and final Week 1 win with 142.8 points, edging Evan Devoe by 3.4. A 37.6-point showing from Gibbs helped Jim survive the zero from Loveland and begin the season above the cut line.
